Objective/Meaning Food security is a strategic cornerstone of national development and also a top priority for the country. Constrained by multiple factors such as geographical conditions, cultivated land resources and labor force, Fujian Province is facing a relatively severe situation in grain production.
Methods/Procedures From a holistic perspective and combined with micro-data of grain production, this paper systematically sorts out the development and changes of grain production in Fujian Province, analyzes its advantages and shortcomings, and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for tapping the potential of grain development and improving the capacity of grain security.
Results/Conclusions The results show that the overall grain production in Fujian Province has maintained a steady progress trend, but there are still prominent problems such as severe constraints on cultivated land resources, small-scale production and operation, insufficient investment in science and technology, and low comparative benefits of grain. Finally, corresponding suggestions are proposed from the aspects of optimizing the policy support system, production and operation system, science and technology support system, and strengthening the protection of cultivated land.
