Embedded Driving Mechanisms and Construction Modes of Endogenous Development in Rural Areas Under the Framework of Collaborative GovernanceA Case Study of Artistic Countryside Construction in Longtan Village of Pingnan County

  • Objective/Meaning  In the practice of artistic rural construction, the paradox of subjectivity often leads to the double failure of both exogenous development and endogenous development. By revealing the embedded driving mechanism and construction mode of endogenous development in rural areas under the framework of collaborative governance, the study aimed to deal with the governance dilemma of resource floatation and subject alienation in rural revitalization, in order to provide theoretical reference and practical path for promoting the sustainable endogenous development of rural areas.
Methods/Procedures  Based on the embedded theory and synergetic theory, an analytical framework was constructed. Then, by taking Longtan Village in Pingnan County, Fujian Province as the typical case, the research methods such as in-depth interviews and participatory observation were used to reveal the operating mechanism of embedded collaboration in promoting the endogenous development in rural areas, and analyze the evolution process of multiple subjects from one-way management to cooperative governance.
Results/Conclusions  The results showed that under the double embedding of political, economic, cultural resources and external subjects, the rural areas could realize the resource accumulation of new endogenous development. By reshaping the subjectivity of villagers, reconstructing the traditional space and integrating the modern civilization, developing the traditional industries and new formats, and constructing the institutionalized cooperation network, the endogenous integration of external embedded resources could be realized. The organic interaction between multiple subjects further stimulated the new endogenous development momentum in rural areas, ultimately contributed to the fundamental transformation from “blood transfusion” to “blood production” mode.
