Analysis on the Spatial Configuration and Causes of the Prepared Dishes Industries in Fujian Province

  • Objective/Meaning  With the support of the government, the industries of prepared dishes in Fujian Province have made full use of the advantages of infrastructure and location. Fujian Province has established a comprehensive industrial system for the prepared dishes, positioning itself at the forefront nationally. This makes Fujian an exemplary case for studying the development and evolution of the prepared dishes industries. In this paper, the spatial distribution pattern and formation mechanism of the prepared dishes industries in Fujian Province were systematically analyzed, in order to provide reference for optimizing the regional industrial layout and promoting the revitalization of rural industries.
Methods/Procedures  The number of enterprises was used as an indicator of industrial scale of prepared dishes, and the spatial analysis and statistical methods were comprehensively used to reveal the spatial morphology and causes of the prepared dishes industries in Fujian Province.
Results/Conclusions The results showed that: (1) The industries of prepared dishes in Fujian Province have formed the distinct spatial pattern characterized by the coastal belt-like agglomeration, inland point-like aggregation and an elongated distribution along the northeast-southwest axis. (2) On the whole, the industries of prepared dishes in Fujian Province presented a development pattern dominated by the large enterprises, with Southern Fujian serving as the absolute agglomeration area. (3) The analysis of OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) model and GWR (Geographically Weighted Regression) model showed that the logistics infrastructure, industrial foundations, foreign trade, and raw material output had significant positive driving effects on the industry scale of prepared dishes, among which the industrial foundations had the most significant impact. Conversely, the economic development level and labor force conditions showed significantly negative effects, particularly the regional economic development level. Furthermore, the impacts of these factors demonstrated pronounced spatial heterogeneity.
