Empirical Research on Regional Differences of Urbanization Level in Fujian Based on the Theil Index

Because of the differences of the economic development level, geographic location and urbanization patterns, the regional differences of urbanization are more obvious in Fujian. Based on the statistical data of the nine cities in Fujian in 20052012, this paper measures the difference degree of urbanization level in the two regions—Southeast of Fujian and Northwest of Fujian, and that in the same region by using the Theil index. The results indicated that the total difference of the urbanization level in Fujian and that in the two regions were appeared the contractible trend. What’s more, the proportion of the difference in the two regions, especially that in Southeast of Fujian in the total difference was maximum.
