Overview on Development of Flower Industry in Taiwan

Per unit of economic output of flowers in Taiwan is close to 3 times of the economic output of vegetables, fruits and characteristic crops, and it 8 times of the economic output of rice. It shows that flowers can create higher value in the lesser cultivated area. From an economic and management aspects of agriculture launched on Taiwan’s flower industry production, research and export demand, changes in trends in marketing, development and other aspects of the advantages to explore the development of Taiwan’s flower industry, and so revealing and description of the flower industry in Taiwan problems. Economic efficiency of various regions of Taiwan’s flower industry research is the use of statistical data, the application of data envelopment analysis（DEA） and Malmquist productivity index were analyzed and compared the efficiency of the current scale of Taiwan’s flower producing different flowers in different counties, technical efficiency and effectiveness productivity index, to understand the structure of Taiwan’s flower industry and as a reference basis for policy adjustments.
