Study on the Influence of Medical Insurance on the Re-employment of Younger Elderly PeopleMediating effect based on health

  • Objective Under the dual background of accelerating population aging and increasing pension pressure, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of medical insurance on the re-employment of younger elderly people, so as to alleviate the labor shortage and release the bonus.
    Method/Process Based on the data of China Health and Pension Follow-up Survey (CHARLS) in 2020, using binary Logit model and intermediary effect model, this paper investigated the influence of medical insurance on the re-employment of younger elderly people.
    Results/Conclusion  The study found that: (1) Medical insurance will significantly promote the re-employment of younger elderly people; (2) Medical insurance promotes the re-employment of the younger elderly by improving their health level; (3) There are differences in gender, household registration and marital status in the impact of medical insurance on the re-employment of younger elderly people, and it has a stronger role in promoting the re-employment of female younger elderly people, rural younger elderly people and married younger elderly people. Based on this, it is proposed to construct an incentive mechanism for medical insurance participation and improve the coverage rate of medical insurance; Strengthen the two-way linkage between health insurance and employment support, and release the promotion efficiency of medical insurance; Suggestions such as implementing differentiated employment support policies and paying attention to the heterogeneous needs of groups.
