Objective/Meaning Toward the digitalization and modernization of traditional agriculture, this research systematically analyzes the evolving landscape and regional divergence of this transformation. A key objective is to elucidate the ambiguous mechanisms that currently impede progress in practice.
Methods/Procedures A measurement of the agricultural digital transformation effectiveness in Chinese provinces 2014-2023 was conducted using the entropy-weighted TOPSIS method and Dagum Gini coefficient. This was followed by an analysis of regional disparities and an investigation into the key influencing factors through a geographical detector model.
Results/Conclusions The results indicate that: (1)China's agricultural digital transformation demonstrated a steady upward trajectory overall, albeit at a moderate pace; (2)Regional differences in agricultural digital transformation remain pronounced, with uneven development distribution; (3)The regional economic development level, education expenditure level and the level of opening up to the outside world are the main influencing factors; the interaction among these factors indicates that the spatial differentiation of agricultural digital transformation is the result of the combined effect of various factors. To sum up,it is necessary to improve the agricultural digital infrastructure and stimulate the transformation motivation of farmers; strengthen the coordination among the eastern, central and western regions, and narrow the gap through resource sharing; and strengthen the multi-dimensional application mechanism to achieve balanced development of agricultural digitalization.
