Objective/Meaning This study analyzes the variations in livelihood vulnerability among different types of farming households in Yunnan's border regions and investigates the key factors influencing their livelihood vulnerability, aiming to provide policy references for enhancing the livelihood resilience of households in this area.
Methods/Procedures Based on survey data from 589 farming households across 25 border counties in 8 border prefectures of Yunnan Province, an evaluation index system for livelihood vulnerability was constructed from three dimensions: exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. The livelihood vulnerability of different household types was measured and comparatively analyzed.
Results/Conclusions The results indicate significant disparities in livelihood vulnerability among household types in Yunnan's border areas. Households with greater diversification of livelihood strategies, higher educational attainment of the household head, and lower average age exhibit lower livelihood vulnerability, whereas those with opposite characteristics demonstrate higher vulnerability. Accordingly, policy recommendations are proposed to reduce livelihood vulnerability and enhance resilience by optimizing household livelihood structures, improving human capital, and strengthening risk prevention and coping capacities.
