Objective/Meaning This paper sorts out the historical context of agricultural science and technology integration between Fujian and Taiwan, analyzes its development achievements and existing problems, so as to provide references for promoting the high-quality integration of agricultural science and technology between the two regions, building the “first home for Taiwan compatriots and enterprises to land on the mainland”, and serving rural revitalization.
Methods/Procedures Based on the relevant policies and academic documents of both sides of the Taiwan Strait, this study divides the integration process into four stages according to the dimensions of cooperation forms and integration depth, then extracts the characteristics of each stage and analyzes the existing problems.
Results/Conclusions The study shows that the integration of agricultural science and technology between Fujian and Taiwan has established a platform system with 14 national-level Taiwan Farmers’ Entrepreneurship Parks as the core, achieving such outcomes as technology spillover, industrial upgrading and innovation capacity improvement. However, it is confronted with problems including insufficient collaborative R&D of core technologies, barriers to factor flow, and weak endogenous driving force of the platforms. Finally, this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions such as building a collaborative innovation community, strengthening market and innovation-driven development, optimizing factor allocation, and innovating industrial integration models, so as to promote the transformation of integration toward quality improvement and systematic integration.
