Abstract:
This paper describes the development of agricultural trade and analyzes agricultural trade policies and the existing issues in Taiwan. Taiwan’s agricultural trade has been in a deficit state though maintaining a steady and fast growth trend. The major issues faced are high logistics and customs clearance costs, high inspection and quarantine standards in overseas markets, and difficulty in exploring the export markets. Taiwan should develop its import and export markets and strengthen the crossstrait exchanges and cooperation to promote agricultural trade. To develop the crossstrait agricultural trade, Chinese Mainland should reduce the costs related to logistics, customs clearance, and inspection and quarantine to encourage Taiwan’s agricultural exports. Meanwhile, it is necessary for Chinese Mainland to implement market researches and strengthen marketing to explore Taiwan market.
