Objective/Meaning  As a key platform for the cross-strait economic cooperation, the Taiwan Businessmen Investment Zone in Fujian plays a leading role in the process of building the demonstration zone for the cross-strait integration and development. Studying the existing problems and countermeasures in its development aimed to provide the decision-making reference for the high-quality development of Taiwan Businessmen Investment Zone in Fujian, and assist in the construction of cross-strait integrated development demonstration zones in Fujian.

Methods/Procedures  The development process and achievements of the Taiwan Businessmen Investment Zone in Fujian were systematically sorted out, and the main problems existing in its development process were analyzed. Then, the corresponding development countermeasures were put forward.

Results/Conclusions  There were some problems in the development of Taiwan Businessmen Investment Zone in Fujian, such as the relatively small scale of the economy and the low proportion of Taiwan-funded enterprises in it, the incomplete industrial chain and low industrial resilience, the high proportion of traditional industries and the weak innovation ability, the lack of regional coordination and the lagging development of industry-city integration, and the strong dependence on policies and gradual weakening of policy dividends. Based on this, the targeted development strategies were proposed, including expanding the economic scale and increasing efforts to carry out the investment attraction for Taiwan-funded enterprises; improving the industrial chain and enhancing its resilience; vigorously developing new quality productive forces and cultivating the new driving forces for innovative development; strengthening the cooperation with the surrounding regions and deepening the social integration of talents; and developing a more precise development policy system for the Taiwan Businessmen Investment Zone, etc.
