Objective/Meaning Digital trade has gradually become a new growth force for the national economic development. The mechanism of digital trade on the high-quality development of agriculture in China was explored, in order to provide reference for the future development of agriculture in China, and effectively carry the banner of giving priority to the development of agriculture and rural areas.

Methods/Procedures Based on the provincial panel data in China from 2013 to 2022, the entropy method was used to measure the development level index of digital trade, and the total factor productivity of agriculture was used to characterize the high-quality development level of agriculture. According to the empirical results, it was tested that digital trade promoted the high-quality development of agriculture by improving the level of rural informatization and promoting the upgrading of industrial structure.

Results/Conclusions The study found that the digital trade had a significant positive impact on the high-quality development of agriculture, and this result has passed the robustness test. At the same time, the mechanism test results showed that the digital trade promoted the high-quality development of agriculture by improving the level of rural informatization and promoting the upgrading of industrial structure. Finally, based on the regression results, the relevant countermeasures were put forward.
