Identification of “High Supply -Vulnerability” Key Areas of Mountain-type Ecosystem Services and Restoration ZoningA Case Study of Wuyi Mountains

    Abstract:
Objective/Meaning This study aimed to effectively improve the management and protection of natural resources in the mountain-type ecosystems and improve the ecological adaptability, thus to provide reference for more reasonable ecological protection and restoration in the future.
Methods/Procedures Supported by GIS spatial analysis, starting from the dual connotation and demand of high supply and vulnerability of ecosystem services, a “high supply-vulnerability” collaborative analysis framework for the key areas of land space conservation and restoration in Wuyi Mountains was built, and the space integration for the key areas of ecological restoration was conducted. The differential zoning governance strategies for the ecological protection and restoration were put forward.
Results/Conclusions The results showed that: (1) The overall supply and service value of the ecosystem in Wuyi Mountains showed a spatial pattern of “high in the northwest and low in the southeast”; (2) The vulnerability of the ecosystem in Wuyi Mountains was generally characterized by a spatial pattern of “high around and low in the middle”. The ecological vulnerability of the cities along the edge of Wuyi Mountains was generally high, and the ecological vulnerability in the southern part of Wuyi Mountains was slightly higher than that on the north bank of Wuyi Mountains; (3) The high supply-fragility matching of ecosystem services in Wuyi Mountains showed a trend of gradual semi-cyclic transition from the low-supply and high-vulnerability areas to the high-supply and low-vulnerability areas in space, and the spatial dislocation was significant.
