The Effect of Value Perception on Rural Residents’ Willingness to Participate in Food Safety ManagementBased on Analysis of 427 Questionnaires in Fujian Province

    Abstract:
Objective/Meaning At present, rural areas are the weakest link in China’s food safety supervision. Encouraging rural residents to participate in food safety governance will transform the rural food safety governance mode from government sole management to social joint governance, which is conducive to the effective allocation of social resources, strengthen communication and cooperation among various rural food safety governance subjects, and meet the needs of China’s national conditions in the new era.
Methods/Procedures Based on the field survey data of Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Sanming and Nanping in Fujian Province, Probit model and intermediary effect were used to explore the relationship between value perception and rural residents’ willingness to participate in food safety governance.
Results/Conclusions Research has shown that value perception not only directly affects the willingness of rural residents to participate in food safety governance, but also indirectly affects the willingness of rural residents to participate in food safety governance through the mediating effect of behavioral attitude and perceived behavioral control. The higher the monthly income and education level of a family, the higher their willingness to participate in food safety governance; But the older rural residents are, the lower their willingness to participate in food safety governance. Finally, based on the research findings, propose countermeasures and suggestions to promote the participation of rural residents in food safety governance.
