Objective/Meaning With the acceleration of urbanization, the attachment relationship between people and land has also changed, and the emotional problems of rural natives have received widespread attention.

Methods/Procedures Based on 157 relevant literatures in the China Knowledge Network Infrastructure (CNKI) database and 776 relevant literatures in the Web of Science (WOS) database, the CiteSpace software was used to visually analyze the literatures on the theme of rural place attachment at home and abroad from 2019 to 2023, thus to study the hot spots and trends in this field.

Results/Conclusions The study showed that the theory of place attachment has become a hot spot in the fields of landscape architecture and geography at home and abroad. There was fewer number of publications in this field in Chinese literature, and low correlation between the authors. The research focused on the landscape architecture, human-environment relationship, rural revitalization, and emotional geography, etc. The research in this field was more abundant in foreign literature, with close cooperation between authors and institutions, and the research focused on the rural revitalization, ecosystem services, urban-rural integration, and rural sustainable development, etc.
