Abstract:
Objective/Meaning By analyzing the influence of joining the trade unions on the urban integration of migrant workers, thus to promote the integration of migrant workers into the cities, it was expected to provide new ideas for promoting the development of new urbanization strategy in China.
Methods/Procedures Based on the dynamic monitoring survey data of China’s floating population in 2017, the impact of joining the trade unions on the urban integration of migrant workers was analyzed in this paper by using the method of least squares (OLS), propensity score matching method (PMS) and Bootstrap method.
Results/Conclusions The results showed that joining the trade union could significantly promote the degree of urban integration of migrant workers. From the perspective of fractional dimensions, joining the trade union could significantly improve the degree of economic integration, social adaptation and psychological identity of migrant workers, but it would significantly reduce their degree of cultural acquisition. The further research showed that the social support had a certain mediating effect on the influence of joining the trade unions on the urban integration of migrant workers. Therefore, the countermeasures were put forward including improving the work of migrant workers joining the trade unions, giving full play to the role of trade unions in safeguarding the rights, promoting the positive linkage between trade unions and communities, and expanding the social support network of migrant workers.
