Abstract:
Objective/Meaning The international competitiveness of wood forest products between China and Russia was explored in this paper, in order to promote the sustainable development of wood forest products trade in China.
Methods/Procedures The trade characteristics of wood forest products between China and Russia were analyzed, and the international market share index (IMS), the trade competitiveness index (TC) and the revealed comparative advantage index (RCA) were selected to measure the international competitiveness of wood forest products between China and Russia by using the data of UN Comtrade Database from 2001 to 2020. Then, the diamond model was used to compare and analyze the international competitiveness of wood forest products in the two countries.
Results/Conclusions The results showed that China’s international market share of wood forest products was higher than that of Russia, but it was at a disadvantage in the trade competitiveness and the revealed comparative advantage index. China was more competitive than Russia in terms of the demand conditions, the related and supporting industries, the strategic structure of enterprises, competition, government and opportunities. Therefore, the countermeasures were put forward including increasing the input of production factors, highlighting the product characteristics and improving the industrial chain.
