Objective/Meaning   The countermeasures for the development of bamboo and woodwork industry in northern Fujian were put forward, so as to better play its advantages as the pillar industry of rural economy in northern Fujian and promote the revitalization of rural areas in northern Fujian.

  Methods/Procedures   By using the porter’s five forces model, the status quo of bamboo and woodwork industry in northern Fujian was analyzed and the corresponding countermeasures were put forward.

  Results/Conclusions   The results showed that there were some problems existed in the featured bamboo and woodwork industry in northern Fujian, such as the high cost of raw material, the limited profit space, the serious involution, being affected by scale economy and the competition of substitutes, etc. Therefore, some countermeasures were put forward for the development of bamboo and woodwork industry in northern Fujian, including promoting the development of the industry to the scale economy with characteristics under the supervision and guidance of the local government, making full use of the multimedia to open up the online and offline markets, actively building the industrial brands, and helping the industrial revitalization of local rural areas, etc.
