Abstract:
Objective/Meaning The fruit industry plays an important role in Thailand. Summarizing the status quo and characteristics of fruit trade between Thailand and RCEP countries can further promote the development of Thailand’s fruit industry and regional trade.
Methods/Procedures Based on the analysis of the production of fruit industry in Thailand, the current situation of fruit trade export between Thailand and RCEP countries was mainly discussed in this paper, as well as the bilateral competitiveness and complementarity. Then, some policy suggestions for the cooperative development of fruit industry between Thailand andw RCEP countries were put forward.
Results/Conclusions Thailand’s fruit trade with RCEP countries was relatively large, and China was the largest fruit export market for Thailand. HS0810 (other fresh fruit) was the main export category of Thailand’s fruits. Thailand had great competitive advantages with Brunei, Malaysia, Japan, Myanmar, South Korea, and Singapore, while had strong revealed comparative advantages with China and Vietnam. At the same time, the fruit trade of Thailand showed certain complementarity to China and Vietnam, while its trade complementarity with other countries was insufficient. The research results were of great significance to further improve the development level of fruit trade within the RCEP region.
