Objective/Meaning  Through the empirical analysis on the coupling and coordinated development of rural tourism and rural cultural revitalization, it provided a new perspective for the study of rural revitalization, and a certain theoretical reference for promoting the transformation and upgrading of rural tourism and the revitalization of rural culture.

  Methods/Procedures  The coupling evaluation index system of rural tourism and rural cultural revitalization was constructed by using the analytic hierarchy process, and the development level, coupling degree and coupling coordination degree of the two systems of rural tourism and rural cultural revitalization in all provinces and cities of China were analyzed by using the linear weighting method, coupling degree model and coupling coordination degree model.

  Results/Conclusions  The results showed that: (1) In the system of rural tourism, the indexes with large weight values were the income of rural tourism, the number of scenic spots and the number of A-level scenic spots; In the system of rural cultural revitalization, the indexes with large weight values were the per capita disposable income of rural residents, the forest coverage rate, the number of rural population and the number of museum institutions. (2) From 2013 to 2019, the comprehensive index of rural tourism in all provinces and cities of China was relatively high but the overall change showed a downward trend, while the comprehensive index of rural cultural revitalization was relatively low and the changing range was not large. (3) The coupling degree and coupling coordination degree of the two systems of rural tourism and rural cultural revitalization in all provinces and cities of China were relatively low, and the rural tourism and rural cultural revitalization have not reached the benign resonance coupling development.
