Abstract:
Objective/Meaning This paper was aimed to comprehensively understand the current situation of rural population hollowing in China and its influencing factors.
Methods/Procedures Based on the 219 rural data from the data of China Laborforce Dynamic Survey, the comprehensive evaluation index system for the rural population hollowing was constructed. The entropy weight method was used to determine the weight and the weighted summation was calculated, thus to realize the measurement of the rural population hollowing. The influencing factors of the rural population hollowing were explored by means of the linear regression model.
Results/Conclusions The results showed that the degree of population hollowing in the 219 rural areas presented normal distribution approximately, which was higher than that in most rural areas. The phenomenon of farmland abandonment and the distance from the nearest administrative center would promote the rural population hollowing, while the number of non-agricultural industries in the village, the collective financial income of the village, the trading places and the health and medical facilities would restrain the rural population hollowing. In addition, there existed some heterogeneity for different influencing factors in different regions.
