Abstract: 【Objective/Meaning】Under the background of the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy in Chinese mainland,the study of the “old house cultural movement”in Taiwan region can provide experience and reference for the protection of the cultural heritage of vernacular architecture in the Chinese mainland.【Methods/Procedures】By using the case analysis method,the protection process of historical buildings in Taiwan was sorted out,and the successful experience of historical building protection and activation was summarized by focusing on the“old house cultural movement”as an example.【Results/Conclusions】In the process of saving the old rural houses and implementing the rural revitalization,the government should play aguiding role,stimulate the vitality of the people,and pay attention to the restoration and re-use of old houses,so as to truly give new times connotation to the historical buildings,and better protect the cultural heritage.
