Abstract:
【Objective/Meaning】Since China's accession to the WTO, the scale of agricultural foreign direct investment has been constantly expanding, which has not only promoted the rapid development of agricultural economy, but also brought some pressure to the ecological environment. The analysis of the impact of agricultural foreign direct investment on the agricultural non-point source pollution can provide a reference for the local governments to formulate the policies of attracting investment in accordance with the local environment. 【Methods/Procedures】Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2002 to 2016, the fixed effect model was used to conduct an empirical test on the environmental effects of agricultural foreign direct investment in China. 【Results/Conclusions】The research results showed that the expansion of agricultural foreign direct investment has significantly increased the emission of pollution from agricultural non-point sources. In addition, the growth of agricultural GDP and the rising of agricultural capital-labor ratio have aggravated the agricultural non-point source pollution, while the agricultural technology input has reduced the agricultural non-point source pollution. Based on this, the countermeasures were put forward including optimizing the policy of attracting investment, perfecting the supporting facilities of urban and rural environmental protection, increasing the investment of agricultural scientific research and strengthening the education of rural environmental protection.
