Abstract:
Objective/Meaning
The analysis on the policies for the development of leisure agriculture in Taiwan would provide experience and reference for the agricultural development in mainland China.
Methods/Procedures
Three different stages of leisure agriculture policy in Taiwan were selected for the research, which were the pioneering stage in the 1980s, the maturing stage in the 1990s and the perfecting stage in the early 21st century. The main contents, successes and shortcomings of leisure agriculture policy in Taiwan were summarized and sorted out.
Results/Conclusions
The main policies for the development of leisure agriculture in Taiwan included the establishment of authoritative institutes, land supply, human resources, financial aid and the evaluation and certification of leisure units. The dominant role of Taiwan authority, sound laws and the support from people had contributed to the successful implementation of the policies, but due to the existence of policy loopholes in a certain extent, the implementation of the policy was difficult.
