Abstract:
【Objective/Meaning】Effects of a series of policies, implemented by Taiwan authorities after retrocession to revitalize the foreign trade of tea industry, on the development of Taiwan tea industry in the early stage of restoration were studied.【Methods/Procedures】We deeply investigated the literature materials, i.e., newspapers, archives and historical materials, to reveal the basic situations of tea policy implementation in Taiwan in the early postwar period.【Results/Conclusions】The results showed that many policies for tea industry were implemented in Taiwan, such as tea tax reduction, tea production reward, tea loans, and export exchange settlements. But the implement conditions and effects indicated that the positive policies acted incompletely, whereas the passive ones severely obstruct the tea industry development in Taiwan. The tea industry policy reflected the economic policy in the early postwar period in Taiwan.Disadvantage polies were also carried out combined with the advantage ones by Taiwan authorities which restrained the revival of tea industry.
