Abstract: The participation of the rural prominent personages in the rural governance was a new model that appeared in the period of transition for the rural governance in China. The rural prominent personages have brought a lot of positive effect to the construction of rural governance with their own resource advantages and ideological foresight, which have alleviated the long-standing abuses existed in the traditional rural governance model to a certain extent. The connotation and characteristics of the culture of rural prominent personages were sorted out in this paper, and the advantages and the existing predicament of the participation of the rural prominent personages in the rural governance were also discussed. Then, the countermeasures were put forward to promote the participation of the rural prominent personages in the rural governance.
