Abstract: In recent years, the tourism in China’s ancient towns has developed rapidly because of their advantages of long history, quiet environment and simple life. However, the development of many ancient towns’ tourism has experienced a detour that “develop first, and then manage”, which made the ancient town tourism fall into bottleneck and hinder their sustainable development. By taking Yunshuiyao Town in Nanjing County as an example, the strength, weakness, opportunity and threat of its present situation of tourism were analyzed. Then, based on the analysis, the countermeasures were put forward from three perspectives of society, economy and environment, thus to promote the sustainable development of tourism in Yunshuiyao Town.
