Abstract:
Taiwan is one of the major tea producing provinces in China, Taiwan tea occupies a unique position in the world tea market. This paper hackled the development of Taiwan tea industry and tea international trade systemically from four historical phases which included Netherlands’ colonial rule & Ming zheng period, Qing Dynasty period, the Japanese colonial period, after World War Ⅱ period, and revealed the change characteristics of tea culture in this process in Taiwan. The conclusion showed that the continuous improvement of quality was an important reason for Taiwan tea’s populace, the development of Taiwan tea culture closely linked with the international trade, both of them were impacted profoundly by the historical and political situation in Taiwan, and Taiwan tea culture connected to the same root of mainland tea culture but had the regional characteristics. Under the circumstance of tea’s weak export in Taiwan, all sectors of society advocated tea culture consciously which realized the development of domestic demand. And these would bring the reference and inspiration to mainland.
